- "Faced with Jack's surrender, Serene has to choose whether to focus on his friendship with Jack, or his plans for Monarch."
- —In-game description
A Willing Prisoner?Edit
Paul Serene can be seen talking into an audio recorder, explaining how he saw that Jack Joyce would arrive at the Gala, but didn't know why or how it would end. Martin Hatch walks towards Serene, who is looking out the window at a captured Jack. Hatch explains that Joyce is claiming to have found Will's time machine, though the two do not immediately believe him, considering Jack found in a day what Monarch have been trying to find for seventeen years.
Serene makes his way down to meet Jack, as Hatch tells him not to make this a personal matter, considering Jack and Paul had a close friendship before. Hatch asks to deal with the interrogation himself whilst Serene works on the speech for the gala later on in the day.
Serene chooses to focus on his relationship with Jack and let Monarch fend for itself for a while. After taking Jack in as prisoner, Serene will question Jack himself in order to try and convince him to see Monarch's ways. However, Hatch will be the speaker for the conference, where he will be shot and Monarch as a company would begin to fall.
If the player chooses this option, Serene will tell Hatch he needs to cover for him at the Gala, which Hatch agrees to. Serene gives Jack an intimating look, and explains they have a lot of catching up to do.
Serene chooses to focus on leading Monarch rather than wasting time on Jack. After taking Jack in as prisoner, Hatch will interrogate Jack, and will no longer have any form of friendship with Serene. With Serene at the conference, Monarch becomes a stronger company as a whole and his plan would go forward as intended.
If the player chooses this option, Serene will turn his back on Jack, and tells Hatch to be the one to interrogate him, find out what he knows, and then get rid of him. Jack slurs under his breath, and Paul turns to Jack and explains that their friendship is long over. Serene then goes to prepare his speech.
The End of TimeEdit
After the chosen outcome, another flashback can be seen of Paul making his way out of the machine, looking into the end of time itself. He explains how he managed to escape to 1999 where everything started, as he is seen staggering away, holding a gun and shooting it at someone. He explains by trying to change things, he only made them happen in the first place.
